Every year on March 7th, Indians celebrate Jan Aushadhi Diwas to raise awareness about the Jan Aushadhi program and encourage the usage of generic medications. The Jan Aushadhi scheme is a government-run program with the goal of making generic medicines, especially those that treat serious conditions, more accessible to the public. The Government of India started the Jan Aushadhi scheme in 2008 to ensure that all citizens of India had access to low-cost, high-quality generic versions of commonly used medications. The plan calls for the establishment of Jan Aushadhi pharmacies all over India, which will give customers access to generic medications at much lower costs than their brand-name counterparts.
The goal of the Jan Aushadhi Diwas is to encourage individuals to take advantage of the JanAushadhi plan and to spread the word about the value of using generic medicines. Free health check-up camps, awareness rallies, and seminars are just some of the events and activities planned to spread the word about the system and its benefits on this special day. Access to high-quality medicine has been greatly improved for millions of people in India, thanks to the Jan Aushadhi program. It has contributed greatly to bettering the healthcare system in the country and easing the financial load on patients.
This year’s Jan Aushadhi Diwas is being celebrated with the theme of ‘“जन औषधि सस्ती भी. अच्छी भी”. On March 7, 2023, NIPER-A took an active part in celebrating Jan Aushadhi Diwas. Students and faculty went to Palajvillage to talk to locals and spread the word about Jan Aushadhi Kendra and the benefits of generic medicines.
